UCSD Volunteer 50
The Look of a Movement
Blue and yellow are more than just the school colors of UCSD. "Volunteer 50’s" more than 3,000 UC San Diego volunteers have given new meaning to the colors. In celebration of UCSD’s 50th Anniversary year, the Chancellor and staff wanted to rally UCSD’s community to serve the community but this year they decided not to have one huge service event. Instead the Chancellor challenged everyone in the UCSD community from students and faculty to alumni and families to each give 50 hours of service. To date, the 3,000 "Volunteer 50" volunteers have logged more than 60,000 hours of service on hundreds of projects.
